Ann Elizabeth (Annie) Killian, PhD, (31) was officially accepted to the Collaborative Dominican Novitiate for the Dominican Sisters of Peace in an online ceremony held Saturday, June 14, 2020. Annie entered the Congregation as a candidate in 2019, and her acceptance to the novitiate marks a major step both in her formation as a religious Sister and with the Dominican Sisters of Peace. |

On the Fifth Anniversary of Laudato Si’ U.S. Dominican Sisters and Morgan Stanley Launch Climate Solutions Funds, Integrating U.N. Sustainable Development Goals
On the fifth anniversary of the publication of Laudato Si’, 16 US congregations of Dominican Sisters announced the launching of a strategic investment initiative in collaboration with Morgan Stanley to address climate change, especially as it affects marginalized communities disproportionately impacted by global warming. The Sisters committed $46,650,000 to the initiative, seeding Climate Solutions Funds that have attracted more than $130,000,000 in capital investments.

COVID-19 has presented many challenges across the globe, and women religious have responded valiantly to these challenges that the pandemic has brought. Many sisters have put their knowledge and skill at the service of patients who contracted the virus, as well as educating others in practices that keep them safe from it. One such woman is Sister Mary Flood, OP, a Sister of St. Dominic of Blauvelt, New York. |

Harmony Farm Provides For Newburgh Ministry

Dominican Sisters from Blauvelt and Hope, joined Colin Jarvis, Executive Director of Newburgh Ministry, at Harmony Farm in Goshen, NY. After a tour, Sr. Eileen Hollen, OP, presented Harmony Farm with a donation from the Dominican Sisters of Hope. Blauvelt Dominican Sisters Ellenrita Purcaro, OP, and Didi Madden, OP, accepted the donation on behalf of Harmony Farm. They then reflected on how this financial contribution will allow them to provide fresh food for soup kitchens, food pantries, and organizations such as Newburgh Ministry.

Mazzuchelli Rectory Open for Visitors |

The Benton, WI, home of Venerable Samuel Mazzuchelli, OP, from 1852 to 1864 is open for visitors every Sunday from June 7 through mid-October from 2 to 4 p.m. The house was restored in 2019 and the story of the Rev. Mazzuchelli’s life in the tristate area is told through photos, text and artifacts.

Just Peace Action Committee Studies Nestlé
|
|
|
The Just Peace Action Committee in St. Catharine, KY, uses the power of our voices and votes to promote justice and peace both locally, nationally, and at times internationally. Their latest project studies Nestlé, an international corporation based in Switzerland. The committee discovered that Nestlé siphons millions of gallons of water daily and makes billions of dollars per year selling their multiple brands of bottled water while paying as little as $200 per year to pump this water out of the ground.

To ensure quality care for southwest Wisconsin seniors, Southwest Health is partnering with Marquardt Management Services of Watertown, WI, effective August 1. Through this new joint venture, Southwest Health and Marquardt Management Services will invest in providing and expanding senior services to the Dominican Sisters of Sinsinawa and community members of SW Wisconsin through owning and operating St. Dominic Villa in Sinsinawa, WI. |
